The Governor of Benue state Samuel Ortom has pledged to give lands to Fulani herdsmen who wants to engage in ranching.

He disclosed this at the 72nd birthday of the former ambassador of Nigeria to Mexico Iyorwuese Hagher which took place in Abuja.
Dennis Ityavyar who represented the Benue State Governor stated that the fulanis are not enemies of the Benue people.
"The Tiv people are historical friends of the Fulanis' and I will like to submit that the friendship still exist...
"His Excellency Governor Samuel Ortom has asserted again and again that we the Benue people are not against the Fulanis'
He further stated that Benue State is ever ready to give lands to Fulanis' who have many cattle and is ready to establish their ranch.
He stressed the fact that Benue people have been friends of the Fulanis' since time memorial.
