Four (4) Things You Can Do As a Parent to Help Your Kid (s) Be Better.
'I will be sharing a series on the above topic, and today we will start with......'
1. LETTING YOUR KID(s) HAVE A VOICE.
Yes, at some points in your parenting life, you must acknowledge that your kids (especially when they are becoming teenagers) yearn to be heard as well. It is not enough that you "throw" commands and instructions at them 24/7, be willing to let them voice out opinions about certain things from time to time as well. Learn to STOP IMPOSING and START SUGGESTING and GUIDING him/her through certain decisions and choices they have to make. For instance, let your kid choose the color for his/her room, what dress to wear for an outing, e.t.c. Let them participate and be involved in planning events like vacations or outings (this helps them want to be a part of it because they also "made it happen"). Lend them your ears so they can run to you for help and advice when they find themselves at crossroads in life because if you don't, peer groups, media, society and other actors will (you sure don't want to try those options). Leaving your kid at the mercy of the society or peers is a costly mistake you may never have the resources to pay for, your kid is your responsibility so learn to be responsible for him/her.
REMEMBER, effective parenting is a deliberate, calculated and skillfully planned responsibility
