Three children of police officers were confirmed dead by drowning in Eket barracks, Akwa ibom state.
Speaking to newsmen, SP Odiko MacDonald, the Police Relations Officer in the state described the incident as ''painful and shocking''.
Victims of the incidents were children of two serving police inspector in Eket division.
The pool of water where the unfortunate incident happened is said to be a drainage used for erosion control.
The State Commissioner of Police Amiengheme Andrew lamented as he tagged the incident as 'preventable'. He further urged Policemen living in barracks to be more vigilant. He further admonished families to 'keep an eye on the welfare of family members.
A correspondent who visited the scene reported that the pool has been sealed to avoid such further tragedies.
