Parent-Teen Relationship (PTR)

Give Your Teen a Stable Home And Childhood.

A stable home and childhood is the best gift you can give your Teen. Teenagers confront their world through relationships that they have and have built over time with their parents, friends, family members and other caregivers. When these relationships provide a stable, nurturing and safe environment, it helps teenagers blossom and succeed both physically and emotionally.  Anne-Laura Van Harmelen, a Researcher at the University of Cambridge and a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow stated that, support from friends and especially a teen’s family is a vital tool in ensuring he/she becomes a resilient and strong teen and adult who is capable of facing the world and whatever chaos the world throws at him.

An unstable home and childhood is a threat to the healthy development of your teen by undermining his sense of safety and security. If you must raise a teen who is not only caring and organized but goal driven, oriented and successful, you must never compromise on the need to provide a stable home and childhood in which he can experience such. Make daily efforts to ensure you provide a stable environment for your teen to feel loved and appreciated always.

You can help provide a stable home and childhood for your teen by; Building a healthy atmosphere for communication with your teen. Listen to what he has to say, even when you are at the verge of yelling your lungs out. Once your teen knows he can talk to you about ANYTHING, you’re a step closer to winning him/her over from society and peers.

REMEMBER; Effective parenting is a deliberate, calculated and skillfully planned responsibility
